Group Managing Director
Garrett has over twenty year’s experience in Timber Engineering and Timber Frame which has spanned both Europe and Australia. Initially his career began hands on, however this developed into a managerial role when he was involved in work for the Olympic Village in Sydney.
By the age of 28 his ambition and drive had got him to a Managing Director level of a successful company, which at its height employed over 50 people both directly and indirectly. (Dempsey Timber Engineering – Ireland) He decided to sell his company in 2007 and continued to work as CEO with the new owners until 2010, when an opportunity arose in Kent in the South East of England in mid-2011 his passion once again directed him towards the Timber Engineering and Timber Frame Industry and he structured the formation of Harmony Timber Solutions with like-minded individuals.
Garrett’s experience in the industry has spanned many timber engineered products, Timber Frame, Timber Roof Truss, Metal Web Joists, and Glulam. He has been involved in projects from large scale commercial jobs to small one-off timber frame self build houses. Garrett has featured on National Television in Ireland when his company pioneered a Passive style home using ecological methods of construction. To date he has been actively involved in timber engineered projects in Ireland, United Kingdom and Germany. His experience and determination and focus on Modern Methods of Construction ensure the success of Harmony Timber Solutions.
Mark has over 22 years experience in the timber engineering industry. His career began in 1994 at a small independently owned business in Kent where he started as a roof truss designer and estimator.
In 1997 Mark joined Palgrave Brown UK Ltd and at the age of 22 he took on the role of General Manager. He was responsible for 30 members of staff and a turnover exceeding £4m. In the beginning of 2003 Mark decided to take a year of travelling the world, however, during his travels he worked for an Australian roof truss company. Mark returned a year later and resumed his role as General Manager.
During 2006 he embarked on another challenge, this time with Donaldson Timber Engineering as General Manager for their new Ashford branch. In 2009 Mark was promoted to a group role as Products Manager, this included the responsibility of overseeing the I-Beam operation along with paneled roof products that were manufactured in Derby but delivered to the whole of mainland UK. In 2010 Mark was promoted to Commercial Director, responsible for the group sales and design function. During his time in this role he dealt with the national tenders for the UK’s national and regional house builders and was involved with the key pricing strategy across the business. In the five years in this role the business grew from £30m to £50m.
Joining the team at Harmony Timber Solutions in 2015 as Managing Director of the UK operation has brought Mark back to his grass roots. Mark comments “This is an exciting business, a highly skilled team of designers and a manufacturing capability that would outshine most of our competitors. I believe we are the leading supplier locally on Engineered Wood Products together with a loyal customer base that will see our business grow successfully into the future.”
Norman began his career in the trussed rafter industry in 1975 working for Canadian company Trans Canada Truss as a trainee designer, he moved on to BAT Products in their design office, before moving back to Kent to join timber engineering fabricators E Felton & Partners in Sandwich, Kent.
Following the closure of E Felton & Partners he joined former MD of Felton’s Harry Brenner at Thanet Timber Frames as Design Office manager, then subsequently at Kent Timber & Trussed Rafters as Technical Director. Throughout that time he established a reputation within the industry for the design and execution of complex projects, working with most national builders and contractors on many prestigious projects.
When BSW took over Kent Timber & Trussed Rafters in 2003, he became Managing Director, and was instrumental in introducing Canadian Super E Timber Frame into the UK, completing over 300 units of air tight timber frame houses using the Canadian product.
At Harmony Timber Solutions, Ireland, his role as Technical Director is very much focused on the companies work on design of all forms of timber engineering, including complex timber trussed rafter roof structures and timber frame houses, for many national companies such as McCarthy & Stone, Churchill Retirement Living, Berkeley Homes etc.
Martin has over 20 years’ experience in Construction and 15 of these years have been in Timber Engineering. Martin has worked on projects which span both Ireland, the UK and even ventured off shore to the Channel islands. His career is focused on Timber Frame technology.
Initially his career began hands on involved in design, detailing and manufacture, however this developed into a managerial role. Martin has worked with one off self builders to the large scale developers, working with them to achieve their goals in an efficient innovate way.
Martin joined Harmony Timber Solutions, Ireland, in June 2013. He has been responsible for introducing Harmony Timber Frame, Ireland’s, new Airtight Timber Frame Wall System, which offers options to suit our customers’ requirements. He has developed three new timber frame wall systems which are designed to provide different timber frame wall solutions that will be both cost effective and achieve a high thermal value for both one off customers and commercial builders.
Our new timber frame wall systems incorporate both high levels of insulation and airtightness so that our customers achieve a high quality wall that gives the best of both options combined into one wall unit. Our three new timber frame wall systems can be tailor made to suit each individual customer requirements and we are always developing new timber frame wall types as new technology and products evolve.
Martin also believes in a hands on approach with all customers and will meet them to discuss their requirements.
